Spain, sword attack in a church: the sacristan dead and 4 people injured

Chain attack on a church in the south of Spain. According to El Mundo, one person – the sacristan – and four others were injured in the attack that took place in the parish of San Isidro de Algeciras, in the province of Cádiz, in the south. Among the injured is the rector of the parish, who is in a serious condition. The author of the gesture, allegedly of Moroccan origin, was arrested.

At the moment, the reasons for the crime and whether there may be a religious motivation behind it are unknown. According to the Spanish newspaper, the man, of Moroccan origin, would have gone to the church of Sant Isidre, located in one of the most popular neighborhoods of the city, and after having discussed it with the rector, would have stabbed with the katana. Later, the attacker would have moved to the church of Nostra Senyora de la Palma, the main one in the city, and there he killed the sacristan, Diego Valencia.
